Cutting machine operator (M/F/D)
"I've always been interested in technology and found the apprenticeship exciting right from the start. Today, I'm already setting up computer-controlled machines independently, which we use to manufacture quite complicated medical products. To do this, I have to be able to read technical drawings, select or write the right programmes and install the right tools. Sometimes it's quite difficult and you have to concentrate a lot, but it's really fun. The apprenticeship actually lasts three and a half years, but I can shorten it to three years because of my previous qualifications. What I like about the job is that there is a different challenge every day, for which you have to find a new solution. So it never gets boring. Production as a whole could be more digital and networked, but I'm sure that will come. I think it's good that colleagues never complain when you ask something. Everyone here is very nice and helpful."
Philip Weiß, apprentice cutting machine operator
Warehouse Specialist (M/F/D)
"I already enjoyed working in the warehouse in my home country of Senegal. So I was very happy when I was given the opportunity to do a two-year apprenticeship here in Germany. The finished articles from production arrive in our incoming goods department and first have to be sorted and stored correctly. Then we put the goods together according to the customer's wishes, pack them and dispatch them all over the world. You have to concentrate well so that every customer gets the right items delivered on time. I enjoy the whole process. Because we only sell very small parts, we can transport everything ourselves and are therefore constantly on the move. That keeps me fit at all times. I particularly like the fact that everything is explained to me calmly, even though I sometimes still have problems with German. Everyone is very patient and I feel very well received by the whole team."
Specialist for metal technology (M/F/D)
"I come from an old family of craftsmen and have been bending my own sheet metal figures and helping on the building site since I was a child. That's why this apprenticeship immediately appealed to me, because I can do a lot of manual and mechanical work. For example, there are still some very old, home-made machines here that you have to know inside out to be able to operate them. I really enjoy the tinkering and the many setting options. But I'm also looking forward to getting to know the CNC machines soon. That will be a completely different world. We produce a total of 12,000 different items here, so it never gets boring. I particularly like the fact that my colleagues explain things to me until I understand them and can do them myself. When I'm finished, I'll have the opportunity to do an advanced training programme to become a cutting machine operator in a year and a half."
Industrial clerk (M/F/D)
"Industrial clerk is an office job with many opportunities. During my apprenticeship, I work in a wide variety of departments. For example, I learn how to process invoices and enquiries or how best to deal with suppliers. I've already worked in purchasing, warehouse logistics and am now in accounting. I particularly like the wide variety of tasks, which keeps things exciting. As the company is more of a medium-sized business, it's very informal here. I get on well with my colleagues. If I have a question, I always get an answer or am told who I can ask. That's great. The apprenticeship normally lasts three years, but I can probably shorten it to two and a half years."
Industrial mechanic (M/F/D)
"Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to be a professional firefighter. As you need a technical qualification to do this, I decided to become an industrial mechanic. But then I enjoyed the work so much that I stuck with the job and now even train people myself. As an industrial mechanic, I make sure that our production machines can run around the clock as far as possible. To do this, I have to take care of regular maintenance, but also quickly find the fault when a machine stops. Then I repair the broken parts or rebuild them and production can continue. What I particularly like about my work is that it is so varied and diverse. In my opinion, MEISINGER also offers ideal conditions for training. In our own training workshop, the apprentices learn the profession of industrial mechanic from the ground up, and the wide range of different mechanical and computer-controlled machines is really great. After the three and a half years of training, you are well on the way to becoming a real "machine professional" and there are many exciting areas of application and development opportunities."
